The vibe of Cocoon Crush reminds us of the time lapsed undergrowth in the Planet Earth series. It’s like watching a seed sprout, bloom, and die in a matter of seconds, while frenzied insect traffic scuttles past in the blink of an eye. It is an organic and otherworldly record that is full of curiosity, mystery, and surprise. It is hard to categorize and simply describing it as techno doesn’t do it any justice. It belongs as much to the realm of sound design as it does to music, and Objekt’s focus of glitchy anti-rhythm make it much more experimental than his previous works and DJ sets. Open your mind and ye shall be rewarded.
