Gregory Shorter Jr. (aka Ras G) left this particular word in July 2019, leaving behind an extensive and prolific career that had a massive impact on the LA beat scene. Since his debut in 2008 with “Ghetto Sci-fi” Ras G has released 21 studio albums and handfuls of EPs and mixtapes. Stargate Music is his 11th release, and a great example of the style that Ras G produced. The album, devoted “to the Womb-man...to the Vagina, The Stargate”, is a hazy and clunky fusion of hip-hop, funk and Sun-Ra esque experimentation. The album is charmingly chill, filled with bass friendly wanderings and is often refreshingly aimless. Slow down and enjoy the trip.
